Moving to or within Groningen

Do you move within Groningen or from another municipality in the Netherlands to Groningen? Then notify the municipality within 4 weeks before and 5 days after your move.

Change your address and register

  • You can only report a move for yourself and family members living with you.
  • No rental of purchase agreement? Then follow the steps under 'no rental agreement'.

DigiD allows you to digitally identity yourself to access many services and government websites in the Netherlands.

If you are already registred in the Netherlands, you can also use this alternative form. 

Not registred yet? If you come from abroad you have to make an appointment for immigration.

Take

  • Valid proof of identity (passport, ID card, driver's license).
  • Rentalagreement. Does it concern your own owner-occupied property? Then a purchase agreement is not necessary. The details from the land register are known to us.
  • If you do not have a rental contract: written permission (pdf 409 kB) from the owner or one of the adult residents + a copy of the identity document of the person who gives permission.

You can also send a change of address to: Gemeente Groningen, P.O. Box 30026, 9700 RM Groningen. Include the following information:

  • Rentalagreement. Does it concern your own owner-occupied property? Then a purchase agreement is not necessary. The details from the land register are known to us.
  • If you don’t have a rental agreement: Permission form (pdf 53 kB) by the owner or one of the adult residents.
  • Copy of a valid ID of the person who gives permission.
  • Personal information.
  • Moving date.
  • Old and new address.
  • Telephone number.
  • Names of the people that are moving with you.
  • Copy of valid ID (passport, ID card or driver's license) of all moving persons.
  • Signature.

No rental agreement?

Do you not have a rental agreement? In order to register at that address, you need permission by the owner or one of the adult residents, also if you live with your parents or partner.

You report the change of address online together with the owner or one of the adult residents who gave you permission. You both have to login into DigiD to confirm the registration.

Not possible to report the change of address together?

Then report the change of address by sending the following attachments by our contact form:

  • Permission form (pdf 53 kB) by the person giving permission.
  • Copy or photo of a valid identity document of the person given permission.

Confirmation

After the relocation date, you will receive a confirmation at your new home address within 2 weeks.
