Parking for visitors(pdf)
Visiting somewhere in particular in the city centre?
There are 13 car parks in a ring around the city centre. Together they have spaces for 4,500 vehicles. Follow the 'P' signs to the car park nearest to where you want to go.
Spending a day in the city?
Groningen has seven P+R sites with a total of 2,500 car parking spaces. The Citybus takes you comfortably into the heart of the city and back again - a practical option for tourists.
Looking for a parking meter?
The streets in the city centre have a limited number of parking meter spaces. The charge is higher than in the car parks. Parking spaces in the nearby residential areas are not intended for visitors to the city centre and this is reflected in the parking regulations and charges in those areas. Use P+R, car parks or parking meters instead.
Need a disabled parking space?
Car users with a 'disabled' card may park free of charge (maximum 3 hours) in any parking space in the city centre streets. The car parks have special spaces for the disabled, but the normal parking charge applies.
